New Drummer Is Sweet For STONE SOUR
May 15, 2006Launch Radio Networks reports: STONE SOUR had to make a lineup change earlier this year and replace drummer Joel Ekman with Roy Mayorga, best known for playing with SOULFLY and also as a recent touring member of SEPULTURA. Mayorga laid down the drum tracks for the new STONE SOUR album, "Come What(Ever) May", and will join the group on the road. Guitarist Jim Root told Launch that Mayorga is a solid addition to the band. "It's incredible, man," he said. "It's a lot of fun, and there's a whole new energy happening with the tunes, and aside from that it's just fun hanging out, you know. 'Cause he's forcing me to get out of my hermit-like lifestyle and actually get out and around town on the weekends when we're not rehearsing, so it's all around good."
Ekman had to bow out of recording sessions for STONE SOUR's second album when his nine-year-old son was diagnosed with brain cancer.
"Come What(Ever) May" will be out on August 22 via Roadrunner. The disc's first single is called "Through Glass".
STONE SOUR will appear on this summer's Family Values tour with KORN and the DEFTONES.
